A Light for Joe's Horse Garden

City-Race Rhein-Main Turf Club welcomes the torch on its way to the equinics in Joe333’s horse garden in the heart of Hesse/Germany.  RMTC reporter JayJay is meeting two members of  the RMTC, Joe and platero  and tries to shed light on the dark.

JayJay: Thanks for the nice welcome.

platero: Yes, thanks, Joe for the invitation to the BBQ with Basil Smash's and other Rum Cocktails...

Joe: ...with SODA AND ICE,ALL YOU NEED!

JayJay: Yes, we have to fear one thing only, the weather...

platero: ah, those Germans always have to lament their weather!

Joe: Sorry, guys, I really tried hard to make it a HOT APRIL day in July...

JayJay: ...who is that guy waiting outside in front of the SOMMERGARTEN entrance, are we expecting more guests?

Platero: Hmm, looks like a postman, hey, he carries a torch, well, let the equinics begin!

Joe: I hope MR POSTMAN will strike next Saturday!

platero: Don't worry, you know, “The Postman Always Rings Twice”...

JayJay: After 10 years of absence RMTC  is back at the equinics.   What were your reasons to try it again?

Joe:  After our amazing success in the equinics 2002 with the win of our aptly named SIM TOGETHER in the Native Dancer Sprint and a 3rd place with VIRGIN LEVER I thought we might never be able to catch up or even better top that. In the years later I had the feeling we would not have any chance with our team.

platero:  This year I have TAPIRSIM, I hope this last three magic letters in her name is good sign again, lol. But back then the residency only had less than 32 stables in the last years and my stables went through a really tough time without any graded win for years; it seemed too difficult to form a powerful team for 32 G1 races.

Joe: My decision to apply again for participation was initiated by the success with my home-bred  TOM AND PAP . This 3y old lady gave me so much fun last year with the first graded wins for my stables.

JayJay: TOM AND PAP, what a strange name for a horse?

Joe:  well, that's an abbreviation for tomatoes and paprika, the German word for bell pepper, I did cultivate both the same day I made the home-bred.

JayJay: Please explain some more names of your artificial animals?

platero: I wish I could say it like Joe, for example, imagine one day I read HEGEL's “Phenomenology of Mind” or the complete “In Search of Lost Time” by Marcel PROUST and then I go on and bred those horses, no way..., to be honest I did not finish either of those books for years, lol. But it's true, I read a lot so I often name my horses after authors and poets like ADORNO,VENCLOVA, KAFKA, HOLTERLING( a reminiscence of Hoelderlin) or fictional characters as BUDDENBROOK, BOBBY Z and JEEVES...

And then there is always music in the air: PRENZLAUERBERG...

JayJay:...yes, JENEREGRETTERIEN..., let's hope we will all have A SUNDAY SMILE after the equinics races...

Joe: …let's call it anEURO SMILE!

JayJay:...

               ...BBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe:...TIME LEAK...

platero: Pardon, Jayjay?

JayJay: That's not only music in the air!?

platero: No, you know, we are pretty close to Frankfurt's Rhein-Main Airport.

Joe: EXTERNAL NOISE!

JayJay: Any other themes on your horse names apart from veggies and drinks or literature and music?

platero: Arts, I live close to the Museum Embankment in Frankfurt near the river Main so I sometimes  visit an exhibition there, does not matter whether it's old stuff like COURBET or  contemporary one...

Joe: yes, platero is our MAIN RUNNER and off course, traveling is important here, BALI ADVENTURE...

platero: ABANO, VILLA BALEIRA, PERLE DES VOSGES...

Joe: KISSIMMEE FL, MARKTL...

platero:... the birthplace of Pope Benedetto XVI, I did not know that you went on a pilgrimage to Marktl, Joe?!

Joe: Shush! Nobody knows.

JayJay: Reading the Racingpost, Sport-Welt and Paris Turf is this your way to prepare your team?

Joe: Information is everything, folks...

platero: ...now let's fire the BBQ with the torch and throw TOM AND PAP, ouch, sorry I mean the vegetables on it...and always take care that you never parch!

JayJay: ...that's why it's good to have a Green Spot nearby! Oh wait, who will drive EL POLO home?

Joe: That's that!

all:  Prost! Salute! Cheers!
