Equinics Torch Run - MINNESOTA DOWNS Diary Entry

MINNESOTA DOWNS DIARY ENTRY

The residency of Minnesota has a long and storied history in the SIM. It was one of the first residencies to come into existence and I believe is one of the very few to continue uninterrupted since its inception.

We have taken part in every Equinics and will be represented in every race for 2012. Over the years the MN res has undergone many changes in management from the early days when Supertoy ran the pace. Indeed the list of res managers reads like a whos who in SIM lore (present company excluded!) Supertoy.. Johnno.. Chuckrock..Theo..hope I have not missed anyone.

When Chuck needed some space, I reluctantly took over, sort of. I could not and would not do it without the help of my fellow residency members and SIM friends Cothill, Redhill, Randy, Kiddman, Prebola, Twaits and TeamCK all pitch in and make this place (in our opinion at least!) the best place to stable your horses in all of SIMdom. It is really what makes our res so great, we have many dedicated players who all help to run the place and make it fun for all involved. Other active members include Kirby, Zman, JK52, JRODNEYG, Mrlucky, and species48. Heck even Dennis and Chuck have stopped by recently and Johnno comes around every once in awhile. If youre looking for a place to compete with very friendly folks check us out!

Although we are much smaller than in years past, we have a great core of people here who really enjoy what the res is all about Contests! We have weekly horse and race related contests and some of the best breeding contests in the game. Some are yearlong in nature; others are bred specifically for a series of res restricted races. We do pick fours weekly and have contests for all of the big sim wide events like Breeders Bowl, Bluegrass and of course the Equinics. We also do a number of resident only races, culminating in the biggest day in December THE MINNESOTA FESTIVAL. Our yearly festival is actually very similar to the Equinics but restricted to resident members only. Each year we buy around 22 stake and allowance races for residents to compete in, much like the Equinics. Prizes in terms of credits and well bred 2 year old horses are given to the winners. This event is the highlight of our year and eagerly anticipated by all residents!! We also had a summer festival last year, which will return in 2013 and all non Equinic summers.

Minnesota is proud to again compete in the 2012 Equinics and we thank the organizers for doing such a great job!

As we pass the touch to the next residency in line, wed like to wish all competing good luck!!!
